Descriptive essay: The Frankincense trade
Frankincense has been traded on the Arabian Peninsula and in North Africa for more than 5000 years. Frankincense is an aromatic resin (or “sap”) used in incense and perfumes and comes from the Boswellia tree. The English word is derived from Old French “franc encens” (i.e., high quality incense).
